So the reason for choosing the Travel
Module instead of the Multimedia one was simply because of my love for
travelling and exploring places, seeing all what they have to offer, every nook
and cranny. Yes, I’m one of those people whose adventurous nature is let loose
when on holiday; who not only loves the scenery, but also the culture, food,
colours and fusion of smells.
I’ve got the travel bug. Just everything
about travelling excites me; the packing, the journey to the destination and
once I’m there, well, say no more as I’m in my element.
I was really excited for my first lecture
on Travel. Being told about some styles of a travel piece, such as guides,
personal memoirs and elongated advertisements, and then talking about how it’s
essential to have a passion for travelling, simply confirmed that this was the
right choice for me.
We then discussed the idea that the
genesis and purpose of travel writing will be important to look at within the
module, and the way in which a critical reflection will be a form of
assessment.
So, between my first and second lecture, I
couldn’t help researching travel pieces, travel writers and also start writing
some personal memoirs based around family holidays all over the globe.
Having written a few, I was happy with my
style of writing, and so, once again, felt excited for the next week’s lecture.
Being told that a blog will be another
form of assessment, I didn’t know what to expect. I know I’m writing a blog
now, but before this, I never had the experience of doing so. I wasn’t too sure
whether it’s as an article form, or if it’s simply writing what you’ve done and
updating it every so often. Well, now that I have this blog, I’m really going
to use it to share the experiences I’ve had, and when writing travel pieces, I’ll
upload them and photos to accompany them.
