Well, in between being busy writing my blog and all
the other work for other modules and the Alumni as the DARO Ambassador, which
is such a great experience as it gives me many opportunities to write and
interview people, I’ve been researching travel writers.
I found the Travel section on the Telegraph’s
website:- http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/725071/A-taste-of-the-best-travel-writing.html so read it, and noticed that these were
extracts from the six books shortlisted for the 2002 Thomas Cook Travel Book
Award. Reading them whilst identifying techniques the writers used, it was
clear that a sense of place was captured, and the use of descriptions were
common throughout.
