Research
So I decided to borrow some more books from the Library; all from the Travel genre of course.
For example, the Lonely Planet Travel Writing book, No Full Stops in India by Mark Tully, as well as children’s book, The Boat by Helen Ward and Ian Andrew. In this way I would be able to see how the different styles of Travel writing are presented, with a mixture of target audiences in mind.
By simply reading pages from these books, it was easy to identify similarities and differences in presentational skills for each of these travel pieces, and so, as I do with everything, made notes which I would bear in mind.
The Lonely Planet’s Travel Writing book discusses the Journey, which involves the world of travel being open to everyone. If you love to travel and you love to write, which I do, the genre comes naturally. It says something like the goal of the book is to reveal the varied possibilities that travel writing offers, and so, it’s up to you where this takes you.
